Suzanne in Technicolor by anthonyesau Suzanne in Technicolor by anthonyesau
The Blender primative Suzanne the monkey head in Technicolor. If you really want it bigger, I will render a larger size.

there are tons of similar works at blenderartists, maybe at every blender forum... 30 secs of not-so-original work. it's too fast even for a wallpaper ;P

Yeah, compared to your 30 hour sculpts this is nothing! I admit it has no originality, but the main purpose was to learn Yafray lighting. Thanks for the comment!

How did you go about doing this? Actually, how did you go about learning Blender at all? I find it incredibly difficult and am having trouble making simple objects, let alone lighting effects or transparent surfaces. The tutorials are pretty hard to follow as well, lol.

It is a bit tough to get started, but you can learn if you just stick with it. Forums are another good place to learn since many people may have the same questions you do. Check out the Blender Artists Forum. I have not learned even a large chunk of the gui or what all can be done with Blender. As for this specific piece: I just positioned the Suzanne heads, gave them different colored glass materials, set up the mesh emitter (a plane as the light), and tweaked the settings to have Yafray render it.

^_^ Thank you! I'll try there, then I'll have another go at getting round the learning curve (which is more like a sharp corner for me, lol). Also, thanks for the watch :)

Here is what Wikipedia has to say [link] . It's a process for making color film.
